All funds raised by Willies Orphan Fund go to practical support for victims of the tsunami. Ninety percent of the money donated supports education for the orphans, to help and secure their future. We all know that education can be the key to the future for all the orphans.

Willies Orphan Fund is currently directly sponsoring the full-time education of some thirty young people, at primary and secondary schools and three at further education colleges. Thirty individual sponsors are contributing to this project on an ongoing basis and last year we had sponsorship of £9,000 for this part of the fund’s work.

Collection boxes in shops and offices are important and help fund work in the orphanage. Fireside quizzes, bag packing at supermarkets, pub quizzes held at bars and clubs have all helped raise awareness and money for the Fund. Regular local radio appearances, coverage in the press and many presentations to schools and clubs have also contributed to the work of the Fund. The local Round Table, Rotary and Lions clubs have all supported our work as well as a local line dancing club. Many entertaining events have also been organised and there is a continuing programme to make sure that Willies Orphan Fund remains in the public consciousness and that support continues for the orphans in Thailand.
